Note from the Scoutmaster

What a great time we enjoyed at Camp T. Brady Saunders last week.  Although there were (and are) always some hitches in transportation and administration, the week of summer camp was one of the best we’ve ever experienced.  Two first year scouts summed it up and really put it in perspective.   One said, “This was the best vacation I’ve ever had” and the other, “I wish we could stay two more weeks”!  That just makes it all worth it.
Well, I don’t think I was ready to stay for two more weeks but must admit that there was some disappointment and sadness when we left.  Being able to attend the National Jamboree was such a big deal for me personally and that week will be remembered forever by our boys and hopefully they learned and grew without knowing it!
Speaking of that, you’ve already heard that we racked up 95 merit badges and 32 partials! Wow, the boys were sure busy.  We are very proud of the way our troop handled themselves and represented us all week.  Again, 202 showed it’s mettle.  We will be celebrating these accomplishments as well as the accomplishments of our Jambo contingent at a court of honor in September.
On to the near future….
Our August campout is now finalized with Mr Burton and the forces that be at the Cape Canaveral Air Force Station.  This is a unique opportunity to see Cape Canaveral up close and personal!  We will be touring historical sites from the launch centers past along with some sites that are usually closed to civilians.  Many Thanks to Mr Burton for calling in a favor to make this happen!
The Campout dates are:            Friday August 22 – Sun Aug 24

Summer camp and Jambo begin!

This is the big week in the lives of our scouts.  10 of them are at the National Jamboree and 40+ are at Camp T Brady Saunders , both in Virginia.  Don’t forget our wonderful adult volunteers who have gone with them.  Your scouts will come back with lots of stories and just a little bit more grown up.   As pictures come it I’ll post them to our Flickr account.  You’ll be able to look at them by clicking at the photo on the left side of the page.
